This is early work in progress. A few years ago, I made a presentation to help promote Mastodon social network. As this is part of the Fediverse, it is much preferred to refer to the Fediverse rather than individual services that make it up so I have created a new presentation to focus on explaining what the Fediverse is.
I can't cover all the services, but have mentioned the services I am using.
Worth a view, the Open Culture is also worth a closer look as it has links to lots of free online courses.
Distance learning is the future of education, why go to an old fashioned brick college when you can learn at home or from anywhere. The Open University have been doing this for decades. The last face to face course I did, really did show how bad adult education can be, the printed materials / workbook was barely readable due to bad printing.
I decided to re-write and republish this, so the post can focus on the wider picture of what the Fediverse is.
This has been undertaken following comments / conversations on #Mastodon about people not actually referring to the #Fediverse directly, of which #Mastodon is one of many services. A different video is presented below, along with an infographic and #Hastags to the services listed This list has also been added to the #index page.

Meta (Facebook and Instagram) prohibited from using personal data for advertisement.
This is a really important development in that it shows that the GDPR and the Law are to be followed. Massive win for our personal data protection. People are waking up and finally taking back control and see what big tech is really doing.
There is now a new plug in for Mozilla Firefox which facilitates the sharing of articles to the Federated social media network Mastodon, part of the Fediverse.
This is a really good step forward, and will really help.
Another really useful resource that was posted to Mastodon. I am sharing here on my blog for reach. This also ties in nicely with my attempt at creating a series on cybersecurity, the link to the bash videos can be found here
We want to try and make the Fediverse a safe place for everyone, to this end there are a range of reporting systems to help. Please see embedded post below for details.
Just reposting this as since Elon Musk bought Twitter, there has been a big migration over to Mastodon.
Joining a new network can be daunting, especially if you don't know anyone. This is especially true with decentralised networks, such as the Fediverse.
However with the Fediverse help is at hand, in the form of Trunk. The website helps you find other users by interest, gives you their id so you can search and follow them.
