• Microsoft are bringing back their Recall feature

There are serious security and privacy concerns about this feature, and even if you opt out of it, it does not mean your data is safe.

Time to switch to replacement operating systems and start to learn them. Don't forget also that Windows 10 support ends in August. You may be forced to upgrade to Windows 11 on your hardware, or depending on when you bought the computer, upgrade the whole computer with a new one just so you can run Windows 11.

TeX Live is intended to be a straightforward way to get up and running with the TeX document production system. It provides a comprehensive TeX system with binaries for most flavors of Unix, including GNU/Linux, macOS, and also Windows. It includes all the major TeX-related programs, macro packages, and fonts that are free software, including support for many languages around the world. Many operating systems provide it via their own distributions.

15feb: candidate/final sources committed, test builds begin.
28feb: tlnet (and TL'20) frozen, tlpretest starts, CTAN updates continue there.
15mar: code freeze for final build, major bug fixes only.
27mar: final updates from CTAN, final doc tweaks.
29mar: deliver TL image for TeX Collection packaging/testing.
5apr: deliver TeX Collection DVD image for manufacturing.
10apr: public release (also of MacTeX).
June?: delivery of DVDs to members.

TeXLive2020 available today 10/4/2020

TeX Live is an easy (we hope) way to get up and running with the TeX document production system. It provides a comprehensive TeX system with binaries for most flavours of Unix, including GNU/Linux, macOS, and also Windows. It includes all the major TeX-related programs, macro packages, and fonts that are free software, including support for many languages around the world. Many operating systems provide it via their own distributions. 

• TeX Live

As I am now using LaTeX for more documents. I have decided to download the TeX Live iso as this is a useful resource to have.

TeXLive is about 3.3gb in total.

I will have a copy of TeXLive 2020. However due to covid-19 physical meetups are off for a few months. I will however endeavour to have a copy for the Tech Jam when it starts up again, hopefully later in 2020.

Not quite following on from my previous post The JabRef bibliography software has been updated.

JabRef is a bibliography manager, to help make .bib files easier to create and manage. It should be possible to upload the output .bib file to Overleaf too.

TeXLive2020 should be available later this year.

I will have a copy of TeXLive 2019 for the next South Devon Tech Jam in case anyone is interested.
