<![CDATA[AI Generated Text

With more and more content being generated by AI, it is getting harder to work out how pieces of text have been generated.

This guide on Wikipedia aims to help people by highlighting common catchphrases and other content that can be attributed to Ai.

An interesting article on the BBC ChatGPT: Can students pass using AI tools at university? Examine similar issues further, but it is important for students to understand AI generated text. As they may need to cite research and this research has to be of a certain standard or their own essays are reduced in worth (not monetary) and student / institution reputation can also be impacted. While this is my own opinion, it is based on what I understand about this topic.

In another example, back in the late 80s there was a paper written on cold fusion that was so bad, it was ridiculed by the community and didn't reflect well on the authors.

AI is not going away, so we are going to have to live with it and understand the implications of it being used and apply better methods to ensure what is written is of high academic standard.

On a sort of related note, Critical Thinking Web has some excellent resources on developing these essential skills.

Tags

#AI,#Writing.#Identification,#Academic,#Personal,#Standards

hr

table
thead
trtda rel="me" href="https://qoto.org/@zleap"Mastodon/a/td
tda href="https://wiki.ircnow.org/?n=Shelllabs.Intro"ShellLabs/td
tda href="https://joinmastodon.org/"Join Mastodon/a/td/tr/thead/table
center
AI statement : b Consent is NOT granted to use the content of this blog for the purposes of AI training or similar activity.
<![CDATA[Translate Science

Another interesting project that I found on Mastodon. This is translating academic and science texts to different languages.

I have replied to their Mastodon post and also mentioned the Africa Wiki project / contest. As the two projects could complement each other if there are articles on Wikipedia about African Scientists and contributors to science. Ensure these articles on Wikipedia are also translated. But also perhaps translate associated Science texts too.

Of course it is all down to the number of people who have the skills are willing to share these skills.

From a personal viewpoint, I really feel employers MUST recognise these contributions. They are valuable to the projects but also help people develop important skills such as remote collaboration.

REFERENCES

Translate Science
Mastodon

TAGS

#Science,#Academic,#Text,#Papers,#Translation

a href="https://liberapay.com/PaulSutton/donate"img alt="Donate using Liberapay" src="https://liberapay.com/assets/widgets/donate.svg"/a

img src="https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/uploads/default/original/1X/6aac842b7ff5c58385a02f3a131c259281be88c8.png" target="_blank"

a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/"img alt="Creative Commons Licence" style="border-width:0" src="https://i.creativecommons.org/l/by-sa/4.0/88x31.png" //abr /This work is licensed under a a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/"Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License/a

hr

table
thead
trtda rel="me" href="https://qoto.org/@zleap"Mastodon/a/td
tda href="https://wiki.ircnow.org/?n=Shelllabs.Intro"ShellLabs/td
tda href="https://joinmastodon.org/"Join Mastodon/a/td/tr/thead/table
center
AI statement : b Consent is NOT granted to use the content of this blog for the purposes of AI training or similar activity. Joseph Write did a presentation on this at Tug2020

Resources

Learn LaTeX
LaTeX Forum
Oveleaf
Overleaf Webinars
Learn LaTeX Twitter

You can ask questions on LaTeX forums here

If you do need some help then I can mostly be found on Qoto STEM focused Mastodon instance within the fediverse. I do login to the LaTeX forums from time to time. I seem to be on ScienceForums quite a lot these days discussing either Chemistry, Astronomy or Astrophysics.

Note: I am just trying to promote the above websites, I am hoping that my basic chemistry tutorial can complement.

#LaTeX, #learning, #lessons #typesetting, #document, #preparation, #academic, #writing, #journal

cc-by logo

Licenced under Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)

hr

table
thead
trtda rel="me" href="https://qoto.org/@zleap"Mastodon/a/td
tda href="https://wiki.ircnow.org/?n=Shelllabs.Intro"ShellLabs/td
tda href="https://joinmastodon.org/"Join Mastodon/a/td/tr/thead/table
center
AI statement : b Consent is NOT granted to use the content of this blog for the purposes of AI training or similar activity.
