If, like me, you want to avoid interaction with big tech, the issue of website sign ins is important. Lots of websites allow you to create an account but why do that when there is an SSO (single sign on) to sign in with Facebook or google.
I found a link to this on the Fediverse earlier, and I think it makes some good points, the price having a single sign-in or using the same credentials for the same website, you don't do this normally as you would use a unique password for each website.

As I am no longer able to run code club at the library. The frustration with the poor performance of Chromium browser on Debian has prompted me to install Chrome browser.
After a quick search I found a how_to which is easy to follow and Chrome is now fully installed and working.
Performance is now vastly better. I am not sure what is causing the issue on Debian. It needs investigating properly.

Applications for mentoring organizations for this years Google summer of code are now open.
A timeline for the programme is available with student applications starting in March. This should give time for people to research any projects they want to help, learn additional software for example before starting.
