<description>&lt;![CDATA[LP conference review&#xA;&#xA;I spent the weekend at LibrePlanet, virtual free software conference hosted by the Free Software Foundation.&#xA;&#xA;I was also a volunteer, moderating both IRC and Mumble chat. &#xA;&#xA;Lots of great talks, conversation and advocacy. Lots of fun activities such as a virtual LibreAdventure conference, which let you walk around a virtual world and interact with other attendees, oh and not forgetting a Minetest server set up. &#xA;&#xA;I caught the talk on Libre GPU hardware on Saturday and the talk on Public Money, Public Code too, Free software in Education and getting tasks done with Free Software. Will catch up with the others once they are up in a few days time. &#xA;&#xA;FSF REVIEWS&#xA;&#xA;LibrePlanet day 1&#xA;LibrePlanet day 2&#xA;&#xA;Videos of talks can be found here&#xA;&#xA;LP Badge&#xA;&#xA;REFERENCES&#xA;&#xA;Free Software Foundation&#xA; GNU.org&#xA;LibrePlanet&#xA;Minetest&#xA;Mumble&#xA;IRC Beginners&#xA; Freenode&#xA;&#xA;TAGS&#xA;&#xA;#FreeSoftware,#LibrePlanet,#Virtual,#Conference,#Advocacy&#xA;&#xA;a href=&#34;https://liberapay.com/PaulSutton/donate&#34;img alt=&#34;Donate using Liberapay&#34; src=&#34;https://liberapay.com/assets/widgets/donate.svg&#34;/a&#xA;&#xA;img src=&#34;https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/uploads/default/original/1X/6aac842b7ff5c58385a02f3a131c259281be88c8.png&#34; target=&#34;blank&#34; &#xA;&#xA;a rel=&#34;license&#34; href=&#34;http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/&#34;img alt=&#34;Creative Commons Licence&#34; style=&#34;border-width:0&#34; src=&#34;https://i.creativecommons.org/l/by-sa/4.0/88x31.png&#34; //abr /This work is licensed under a a rel=&#34;license&#34; href=&#34;http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/&#34;Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License/a&#xA;&#xA;hr&#xD;&#xA;&#xD;&#xA;table&#xD;&#xA;thead&#xD;&#xA;trtda rel=&#34;me&#34; href=&#34;https://qoto.org/@zleap&#34;Mastodon/a/td&#xD;&#xA;tda href=&#34;https://wiki.ircnow.org/?n=Shelllabs.Intro&#34;ShellLabs/td&#xD;&#xA;tda href=&#34;https://joinmastodon.org/&#34;Join Mastodon/a/td/tr/thead/table&#xD;&#xA;center&#xD;&#xA;AI statement : b Consent is NOT granted to use the content of this blog for the purposes of AI training or similar activity. <title>Advocacy - The barriers to effective promotion</title>
      <link>https://personaljournal.ca/paulsutton/advocacy-the-barriers-to-effective-promotion</link>
<description>&lt;![CDATA[Advocacy - The barriers to effective promotion&#xA;&#xA;I have just tried to follow some links at the following site&#xA;&#xA;https://www.softwarefreedomday.org/&#xA;&#xA;If I click 2020 and follow the link to https://www.documentfreedom.org/ then I get a page that gives me the date for 2018 (so kinda out of date)&#xA;&#xA;dfderror&#xA;&#xA;The link for hardware freedom day goes to&#xA;&#xA;https://www.softwarefreedomday.org/ so it seems some of the links just go back on themselves. Not really helpful.&#xA;&#xA;On the tab for 2020 there is no direct link to software freedom day.&#xA;&#xA;I am happy to promote all this, but unless people can find what they expect they will just stick to what they are using now and go away with a really negative idea of what this is about.&#xA;&#xA;cc-by logo&#xA;&#xA;Stickers like this and another one are great for advocacy, but useless if they link to outdated information.&#xA;&#xA;I just find it very frustrating, and people will point out to us that they don&#39;t get this with Microsoft. &#xA;&#xA;This is what we are up against. I feel that we just need to be far more effective, update information and ensure it is kept up to date. &#xA;&#xA;References&#xA;&#xA;Software Freedom Day (SFD)&#xA;Document Freedom&#xA;&#xA;#freedom, #softeware, #hardware, #documents, #promotion, #advocacy, #barriers,&#xA;&#xA;You can find me on Friendica at zleap@social.isurf.ca&#xA;&#xA;---&#xA;&#xA;cc-by logo&#xA;&#xA;Licenced under Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)&#xA;&#xA;hr&#xD;&#xA;&#xD;&#xA;table&#xD;&#xA;thead&#xD;&#xA;trtda rel=&#34;me&#34; href=&#34;https://qoto.org/@zleap&#34;Mastodon/a/td&#xD;&#xA;tda href=&#34;https://wiki.ircnow.org/?n=Shelllabs.Intro&#34;ShellLabs/td&#xD;&#xA;tda href=&#34;https://joinmastodon.org/&#34;Join Mastodon/a/td/tr/thead/table&#xD;&#xA;center&#xD;&#xA;AI statement : b Consent is NOT granted to use the content of this blog for the purposes of AI training or similar activity.
