A Dangerous Conflation
An open letter from Jewish writers
This is an excellent piece that is well worth reading, given the worsening crisis, in Gaza, West bank and of course Israel it makes reference to an article explaining the actual definition of antisemitism, I have included a link to this [1]. It is also quoted at [2] to help emphasize the point here.
Calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews in the name of a radical ideology or an extremist view of religion.
Making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotypical allegations about Jews as such or the power of Jews as collective — such as, especially but not exclusively, the myth about a world Jewish conspiracy or of Jews controlling the media, economy, government or other societal institutions.
Accusing Jews as a people of being responsible for real or imagined wrongdoing committed by a single Jewish person or group, or even for acts committed by non-Jews.
Denying the fact, scope, mechanisms (e.g. gas chambers) or intentionality of the genocide of the Jewish people at the hands of National Socialist Germany and its supporters and accomplices during World War II (the Holocaust).
Accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust.
Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.
Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.
Using the symbols and images associated with classic antisemitism (e.g., claims of Jews killing Jesus or blood libel) to characterize Israel or Israelis.
Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.
Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel.

Mastodon : Getting started
Over the past year, Mastodon, which is part of the decentralized Fediverse has seen a huge influx of new users. Many from Twitter (now X) who are disillusioned with what is happening.
This has resulted in many guides aimed at new users. The link here has another guide that is focused on Mastodon, but does make reference to other federated services.
Hopefully this is useful to people and helps them get started. If you need help I can try and help via IRC.

Crude Oil and alternatives
Also publishing this again as it is related.
So further to a previous post which looked at what we get from #CrudeOil. We are going to need some serious #CriticalThinking to work out what we can do to replace many of the products listed.
So firstly, we need to understand what we mean by Critical thinking. This infographic should help

We need to look at the Who, What, When, Where,, Why, and How, so in essence we are asking open questions, as in those which we can't generally just answer with yes or no.
So lets look at a few questions
Who is going to develop alternatives? Who is going to fund this? Who is going to be directly affected if we stop production of certain products, (and we don't just mean the oil producers)
What will the alternatives be? What time frame is needed? What can we do without if we did stop production?
Where will we find alternatives? Where are the best places to build the infrastructures needed?
When can we do this (again time frame)
Why do we need to find alternatives? Why do we need this product (e.g Teflon), if it isn't essential can we do without it?
How are we going to develop alternatives? How will our education system need to change to accommodate new thinking within the curriculum? How are we going to retrain existing workforces and new workers with the skills needed?
So these are just a few questions that may need to be considered. At some point Crude Oil will run out anyway, so we need to develop alternatives.
it may be we carry on extracting Crude Oil but create the products we need from this, in which case
How do we store what is left over? How long for? What will be the cost of this storage?
So lots of things to consider if we want to just give up on Oil. We get more products than we think from this.
We can discuss further on Mastodon.

Products from crude Oil
In a previous post I have l listed products from crude oil. This information from obtained from an info graphic.
Following a conversation on Mastodon, I am reposing this list, with the view of getting some assistance in researching the following:-
It is important to apply critical thinking at all stages here.

CD Ripping
I recently tried to use a program called RipperX to rip a music cd and encode in to mp3 or ogg vorbis.
The use of this software failed, as it was unable to connect to the cddb information database URL provided, and was also unable to connect to another database, which I found.
I set about looking for an alternative in the Linuxmint Repositories and found a program called Asander.

This works really well, and actually connects correctly to the database and pulls in the track information. The default file format is ogg, vorbis (.ogg) which is fine, if you want .mp3, you need to install other software.

Meta and human rights abuses in Ethiopia
This was posted to the Fediverse today New 74-page Amnesty International report on Meta’s contributions to human rights abuses in Northern Ethiopia
Should make interesting reading, If I understand things, Meta have already been accused over human rights abuses in Myanmar.
For some reason we are going to trust our safety and privacy when it comes to AI to big tech, who clearly can't be trusted to police their own platforms properly.

Gaza War – Article
Joy on Israeli offensive: Bombings are funded using our tax dollars. We should ask some questions
This article on the ReidOut is excellent, well researched, well presented and makes a good few excellent point.
If you need to re-read the Bible Reference it is here
3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy[a] all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’” [1]
