Carbon Cycle Greenhouse Gases
The Global Monitoring Laboratory has produced some research on Carbon Cycle Greenhouse Gases. This looks at trends as CO2, NO2, CH4 and SF6 have changed.
You can look at the research results here. We seem to be looking at upward trends. This is despite warnings.
In the meantime, it seems that Temperatures for Jan & Feb 2024 have broken records and been the warmest on record with 2023 is the hottest on record.

Bit Bot XL
Lucy has loaned the stem group a Bit:Bot XL which uses the BBC micro:bit as a controller. I have finally got round to trying this out using some of the example code
I will demonstrate this at a later event, in the meantime, I am trying out the obstacle avoidance code.

STEM Group – Mar 9 2024 – write up
We had a fairly busy session today., We had an update from Helen on the advanced Lego robot, this can now find its way around the room better and has better turning control.
We did some more on the robot building, tried to flash a Nintendo DS with new firmware, I am not sure if this worked properly.
Furthermore, we also had Rob, who brought along his MacBook running Ubuntu, and we tried, downloading Raspbian, but there were a few issues with this and writing to an SD card. This can be fixed for the next meeting.
We also had a good discussion about projects Rob is working on, had a look at some of his previous work (well photos of).
We also got the PC that one of the attendees is working on, so this now needs an OS and some other work, then we should have a complete system. I will add the software needed to the Ventoy disk before the next meeting.
So in all, an interesting and productive meeting, we are slowly building up a good group of people.

Another online craze
Just sharing this to help raise awareness.
We need to act, parents need to talk to their kids about what they are doing online. Those starting these things need to be held to account, along with the platform that allow the content to propagate to vulnerable people.
Ofcom needs to start doing their jobs, prosecute those at the top of the social media companies, fines won't work, they are petty cash to a lot of the big tech companies.
As guardians of the internet, people need to build better, safer, user (not profit) first platforms, and reject the current big tech companies as no longer relevant.
