Xencelabs medium tablet bundle on Linux

Recently I was sent the medium tablet bundle from Xencelabs. I had originally wanted to test it and see how it run on Linux. I had just wanted to review the unit and upon completion I would return the unit, but I was surprised to find out that when I received it I was told it was a brand new unit in which I was to keep.

I did a short first look video on YouTube about it, I do plan to to a follow up on it at some point.

Currently everything is working spectacularly. I am very happy with how the driver lets me customize the pens and tablet to me and not me having to conform to the tablet. I find this very limiting, if I have to conform to the hardware. I have been in contact with the gentleman who sent me the tablet and have agreed to keep him apprised of the ongoings with tablet and the driver.

With this tablet I have found a renewed love for my digital art. While I do prefer my software to be FOSS, the driver for this tablet is not FOSS but this isn't a concern for me since software ideologies are unimportant to me. I use Linux and other FOSS cause it allows me a certain freedom to make my own decisions. With the driver it is a tool to help me use the fundamental tools to do my art.

I have tested the tablet with numerous pieces of design software such as Blender, GIMP, Inkscape, MyPaint and Krita. I do predominantly use it with Krita since I have a preference to digitally paint or draw. It works flawlessly with all of the above mentioned software.

I won't bore you with the unboxing jargon or the specs of the machine or any of the accessories. I will let you know that it does work quite well under Linux and have had no issues. Like Linux it lets me customize it and that is something I definitely love.

Never in a million years did I think that I would have gotten this opportunity and due to the faith that was bestowed upon me to do this, I will be someday purchasing one of the display tablets which this will be my first one. I am going all in with Xencelabs and not going to look back. This has given me the drive to perfect my craft and aspire to try and become a creative professional.

I want more and this device I will achieve this.
