So, further to my previous post, I have now made further edits to the map. STEAM Café and Music shop next door are now added, I am trying to change Peacocks, which is listed as a vacant building to the map. I need to add it as a clothes shop or shop, but can't find in the list, so have asked on Matrix for help.

I have also suggested on the UK community forum that we can perhaps use the Tinkerers meetings to meet up with other OSM hackers. It just needs something to start this off, then a group can be formed, and a more formal schedule can be agreed upon.

If you are a local business, then it is in your interest to be on the map accurately, as the OSM data can be used as part of Apps that point to local information, keeping the map updated is really vital.

So, further to my previous post, A little disappointed, but not surprised in the lack of interest in people wanting to help with this.

Suffice to say, I have made my first edit, which is to add the Steam café & Discovery Centre to the Map.

I have also found a nice guide on how to edit.

I will endeavour to add more. Furthermore, I also added the music shop next door as this is no longer Lucky Dip, as it has changed hands, but no new shop name has been added to the front of the shop. This is fine, OSM is about local knowledge.

I have also received some post card size flyers from OSM, so will leave some in the STEAM café, and elsewhere too.

I have also posted a message to the UK OSM forum, so hopefully within Torbay, between various groups add lots of information to the map.

There are lots of ways to help with this project. Local knowledge is key to accuracy, if you sign up, find your local area you can add notes to the map or resolve others. I have been doing this for the Torbay Area.

I attended the Torbay Timebank meeting, held at Our Katie's Tea and Coffee house, in Paignton, this morning. I went along mostly to see what was going on, however, I got chatting to people and the need for basic computer skills became clear.

I informed people about Learn My Way and the sessions due to be held in May at Paignton Library. However I then took the initiative to visit the Paignton Library and get some copies of the flyer, to give out at the meeting(s).

I need to get more copies for future meetings as it is clear that there is a need for basic computer courses and r help. Not everyone needs a full course. Not everyone actually wants a computer / tablet, but feels the are going to need one, to use essential services, especially as more and more services are going digital.
