Debian 10 – Gaming

So following on from yesterdays post. I decided to see if I could get some more games working.

The OpenRA allows you to play the WestWood studios Command and Conquer games. However this failed to load on my previous install. So I decided to take a different approach.

Snaps are a new way to package games, so I decided to see if this approach would work with C&C on Debian, so after some reading and experimentation. I can now play: C&C Tiberian Sun and C&C Red Alert.

The above games have been made with the original code released by Westwood, where as OpenRA is an open source version.

As with anything, you need to read, experiment and research in order to get things working.

Tiberian Sun, once loaded it runs full screen.

Red Alert 3

In game, as you can see this does run windowed, so makes screenshots possible.
