: another dark side of the music industry
Barely Sociable released a trailer for his new upcoming 3-part docu-series on “The Dark Side of the Music Industry”.
(He probably took inspiration from his video called “The Dark Side Of Spotify”... which should really be titled: “Spotify will probably never use 2FA because it profits from farms of either stolen or virtualized smartphones”.)
There is one thing I wish someone like Barely Sociable would cover.
That's how the RIAA tried to take down youtube-dl
in October 2020.
However, at this rate, the only YouTuber that might talk about this I can think of is Mutahar from Some Ordinary Gamers... maybe Gardiner Bryant, but I actually hate Bryant more than Muta. At least Mutahar is consistent and I generally know what to expect from his opinions (besides the annoying appearance of G Fuel containers on his desk).
Since Bryant is a “”“Linux YouTuber”“”, he had priority from Valve to review the Steam Deck and is now engaged in Kaczynskian socialized leftist Steam Deck kiddie intellectualism on “”“the status of gaming”“” (grow the hell up — there is no “gamer” culture, just IGN staff pushing smoke on entire genres of games they know nothing about as mainstream journalism school failures), instead of his normal simping for GNOME or the Librem 5.
(I hate the Librem 5 because it's overpriced, it's inaccessible to everyday people, and it's proof that maybe it's actually a bad idea to literally port desktop Linux into a mobile device — not because I'm a deranged Daniel Micay/GrapheneOS simp and rage about how Purism doesn't actually do firmware correctly or whatever on Twitter. One of the few things I'll give credit to Google for Android and even Apple for iOS is that a mobile device. Yes, in a perfect world, all devices from small embedded devices to large mainframes would run the same OS. However, we don't live in that perfect world, so each “type” of device needs to have its OS tailored to its idiosyncrasies, just like custom fitted formal clothing. Therefore, a mobile OS should be used on a mobile device, such as smartphone or tablet, while a laptop/desktop OS should be locked down in all of the ways a laptop/desktop should be secured.)
Please, play a “real” game, like Night in the Woods or Deltarune that is entirely offline and doesn't need anti-cheat to spy on you. At least the games I listed definitely don't need a discrete GPU, if you are playing casually (as these games were intended to be played).
Conclusion
Anyways, I'm happy that Barely Sociable has been able to adapt to the monotonically rotting platform that is YouTube in 2022.
I would've quit long ago... good thing I never even started!
(All hail PeerTube!)
